As multi-instrumentalist, composer and founder of indie-folk band Oracle Sisters, Lewis Lazar has toured the world, but he’s always led a troubadour’s life. He is Danish, but grew up in Brussels and Dublin, and upped sticks to London, New York and now France.

Music became a fixture when he was five and learning to play the piano. Guitar followed at seven, then songwriting and gigs at 12, spurred on by the genius of Dylan, Cohen, Marley, McCartney and Lennon, Bacharach and Marvin Gaye. After briefly studying philosophy in Dublin he dived into New York’s music and club scene, working with Nikolai Fraiture of The Strokes and producing his own first solo albums.

In Paris, he formed the acclaimed Oracle Sisters in 2017. The three-piece has racked up millions of streams and glowing reviews, but for Lewis it’s only the start of a musical odyssey: ‘Once you’ve written a song you can move on; it’s only the song that you never write that stops you moving on.’ These days, Lewis lives ‘like a monk’ in part of an old castle outside Paris, but he’s never one for inertia, and - when not on tour or in one of his regular haunts in Greece, London or Denmark - writes poetry, paints much of his band’s artwork, cooks and revels in nature.
