Heidi is a visual artist and an experienced art educator who has led workshops for the British Museum, The Royal Academy, Tate and the English National Ballet. Her love of drawing started in early childhood when she made themed 'books' that became worlds in which to lose herself. After art school, she travelled extensively, obsessively keeping sketchbooks to document her experiences and as a way to understand the strange and unknown. She has a Surrealist imagination and a love of dark fairy tales - in keeping with her German heritage!
Heidi is based in Leigh-on-Sea – a small but vibrant fishing town with a thriving artist community - and works in central London as Course Leader for the Developing Art Practice course at The City Lit in London and Fine Art pathway leader on the UAL foundation diploma. Being within walking distance of the major museums and galleries, she often takes her students there to draw and find inspiration..
Heidi first came to Sacy on a retreat in 2023, and spent most of her time here exploring the contents of the attic. The poetic photo story that came out of it - ‘She’s not There’ - can be seen here.
